EK:  What is your pen name? 

            Alexa Riley: Alexa Riley comes from a combination of our names/maiden names. We wanted a little piece of each other in it, but we always wanted something different. We think it worked out well! 

EK:  Does your work fit into one genre? If not, tell us about it. If so, do the same.

            Alexa Riley: Normally we fall into either erotica or romance. Some books we have are steamier than others… and some are just straight smut. But for the most part I think we’d consider ourselves Romantic Erotica 

EK:   What is the title of your most recent or upcoming release?

Alexa Riley: Our most recent book is Curvy. We’re really excited about this one because it features a full-figured model on the cover. 

EK:  What inspired this work?

Alexa Riley: The model did. We follow Ruby Roxx on Instagram and when we saw the picture she posted we knew we had to have it! She’s gorgeous, and the picture inspired the story! 

EK:  What is your favorite thing about writing?

Alexa Riley: Being able to create something that helps people escape. To be able to sit down and relax, and even for just a few hours forget about all the chores, and work that needs to be done and melt away in a land of insta-love, and surgery sweetness. That’s our ultimate goal. 

EK: Now for the fun stuff …

EK:  What is your favorite snack while taking a much needed author break?

Alexa Riley: Alexa likes coffee and chocolate, while Riley likes warm sugar free Red Bull, and dips. 

EK: What is one of the craziest things you’ve done in your life?

Alexa Riley: I think writing a book and becoming authors is pretty damn crazy. We never thought this adventure would lead us to this point, so I’d have to say this has been a wild ride so far! 

EK:  The house is on fire, what are you grabbing if your family is safe and sound?

Alexa Riley: I think we’d both grab our laptops. Just because it would be such a hassle to replace. Maybe after that we would grab our dogs. 

EK:  What is your “go to” movie, book, or show?

Alexa Riley: Alexa: I’m mildly obsessed with Harry Potter. So there is constantly a movie on when I’m home during the day just playing quietly in the background while I work. Riley: I’m addicted to Laurann Dohner and her New Species series. If I’m bored or just wanting a fix, I’ll pull up Fury or V’s book and listen to my favorite parts on audio. 

EK: Who is one of your favorite authors? Why?

Alexa Riley: We both like Laurann Dohner. It’s kind of how we bonded. And JS Scott. We both fell in love with her instantly and have been fans ever since. 

EK: Bonus => Have you ever read a book that had you questioning why you were having such a reaction to fictional characters? What book was it?

Alexa Riley: There have been many books that have pulled different emotions from us for different reasons, but we prefer the ones that make us melt. When we are able to read a book and fall in love with a hero and how he treats the heroine, we know we’ve struck gold. Those are the ones we search for, and hope to write.

Meghan March:  My work is all solidly in the genre of romance—it’s what I love to read and it’s what I love to write. The Beneath series has elements of romantic suspense, and the Dirty and Flash Bang series would both qualify as erotic romance, in my opinion.

EK :   What is the title of your most recent or upcoming release?

Meghan March: Beneath These Lies is coming March 15.

EK :  What inspired this work?

Meghan March: Beneath These Lies came about organically as I wrote the other books in the Beneath series. I love creating side characters who I know have their own stories to tell.

EK :  What is your favorite thing about writing?

Meghan March: The freedom of knowing I can create whatever I desire. There are no rules except for telling the best story I can.

Meghan March: Kresley Cole is one of my very favorite authors because she’s a master world-builder. You don’t just read her books, you become consumed by them.  

EK : Bonus => Have you ever read a book that had you questioning why you were having such a reaction to fictional characters? What book was it?

Meghan March: I’ve yelled at my ereader and wanted to throw it across the room many, many times. Kresley Cole is also the queen of the major cliffhanger, especially in the Arcana Chronicles. I highly recommend the series!

#EllieKeys 31+ Days of Authors (Author Interviews)

I’m an author. I come up with ideas and think on things that can be chalked up to dreams and nothing more. Eleven days ago I came up with a whopper of an idea. I decided I wanted to interview authors who are my friends and some that I don’t usually speak with on a regular basis. The point of the grand scheme was for me to learn some interesting things about authors I admire and have qualities I aspire to have in my life. 

My initial thought was “go big or go home!” I randomized my list. If the author’s name popped into my head, I put them on my list. What I hadn’t expected was the number of people that immediately responded. The other thing I didn’t expect were some of the names that said the magic word: YES! I won’t tell you what names shocked me, I’ll let you figure it out for yourself. 

For the next month or so, I am going to post the responses to the eleven questions that I posed to each author. (five serious and six fun) I’ll share them on all three of my blogs. (one is for my other pen name)  I am also going to post the interview responses in my monthly newsletter. I’m so psyched to share the things they shared with me.

Chyra stood in the middle of the restaurant looking at most of the members of her family while trying to fight back the tears that had been threatening since they began their surprise attack. This was not how she expected this day to go.  Her plan was just to work her way through the mess.  They’d now taken that option away.

She woke up just a few days ago thinking that she could handle anything that came her way.  Christmas had been a complete disaster thanks to the unveiling of a truth she hadn’t been prepared to share.  Her drunken call to let Zach know just how she felt and what she thought of him had ended with her apparently sleeping with him. Her adorable little boy couldn’t stop the beaming smile that was plastered on his face when he emerged from the bathroom and found that he was at his mother’s house with his father there along with them. There went the New Year’s holiday.  She had to possibly crush her little boy’s hopes and dreams.

That morning had been spent fielding questions from a very curious little boy that wanted to know when they were moving.  He also had ideas about the house they should get.  Zachariah went as far as putting in his “order” for a little sister.

At first he didn’t know why he wanted a sister and not a brother.  After a moment or two of thinking, her little Zachy told her his reasons.

“I have a good idea. I think it should be a patterin.  It can be me because I’m a boy.  I’m first.  A sister, she woulds be a girl then a brother then another sister.  See Mommy. It would be boy then girl then boy then girl, a patterin.  It can’t be like Auntie Rayna and Unca Chris.  They have the girl first.  I’m not a girl. Our pattern is different, right Mommy?”

“Yes, baby boy.  Our pattern would be different because you are a boy and you were born first. So, you think mommy is going to have three more babies?”

“Four.  It has to be a…um…,” his little nose scrunched up while he thought some more and she could’ve just kissed him. He always had the ability to take her mind off the things she was dealing with.  “Auntie Wynnie tells me it.  Oh, it’s a evens number.  That’s what. Evens numbers are good. Are they, Daddy?”

She’d almost forgotten Zach had been there with them until the moment Zachy had asked that question. He’d looked so comfortable in her home, her personal space.  It had made her nervous.  She turned her attention back to fixing them all breakfast while Zach answered questions or fielded them her way.  It was his way of letting her know that he knew she was trying to avoid the obvious predicament they’d found themselves in. Chyra reluctantly answered the continuing list of questions her four year old had.

After an hour or so of her and Zach answering question after question, she couldn’t answer another.  She needed to come up with something to stave off the rest of the inquisition.  It took her telling him that they were going to spend time with his cousin, Nakia, to get him to stop. Zachary had been no help at all.  He just sat at the table laughing every time Zachy hit her with another question.

Once she got them out of the house, she made sure that she was unavailable to have visitors or take any calls for the rest of the day.  She needed to sort out what was going on in her head.  Fortunately for her, Lynnia had closed the restaurant for the holidays.  Her sister told everyone that her family restaurant employees needed to have time to spend with their own families and the holiday break was the perfect time to do it.

A Note from the Author

I’m so excited to announce that Nyema, the third book in The Norton Sisters Series will be releasing on November 20th.  Words cannot express just how much these sisters mean to me.

E. L. R. Jones is a self proclaimed eclectic author. She tends to write romance based novels, but they fall into different genres: contemporary, paranormal, mythological and erotic. She also has created short stories and poetry. In the near future, she hopes to release a children’s book series. Ms. Jones incorporates all avenues of creativity into her works.

E. L. R. Jones began writing when she was just beginning her teen years. A pen in hand meant she needed to vent words that she couldn’t otherwise express. Living a life that was already filled with pain and heartache, Ms. Jones began writing poetry. The ability to release the barely contained emotions was enough to inspire her to take Creative Writing classes in college.
