“I was looking for my clothes so I could make my exit. You didn’t leave that information in your note.”

His smile faltered when he looked at what was left of my dress that I’d been wearing the night before. The look he was sporting had me giggling because he looked like a little kid that figured out he shouldn’t roll his toy car in the street with other cars. Very specific example there, might want to get out a bit more, Reign.

“What was that last bit there? What specific example?”

His look and words had me realizing that I hadn’t just thought that, I’d actually spoken that aloud.

“Ha. Yeah, that was in reference to something that I was thinking, which I believed I’d said only in my head. Okay. We’re going to move passed that one. I need to get something from you.”

At his quirked eyebrow and questioning glance, I quickly corrected my statement.

“I mean, I need some clothes or pants. I can’t leave here with just this shirt.”

He gave me an appreciative once over and muttered something to himself. Was he actually attracted to me or just the fact that there was a half-naked woman in front of him? Hold on, or was he recalling something we did last night?

“Did we … did you and I have sex last night?”

My face must’ve reflected the sheer terror that I felt at the possibility that I did something that stupid. I’m a mother. I cannot have idiotic moments like that. The man is “fuck me until I don’t know my own name” hot, but I don’t have time for getting caught up in a moment.

“Relax, Reign. We didn’t do anything.”

My face fell. I was scrutinizing his features as I relaxed about the fact that we hadn’t done anything, but I needed to be sure.

“You’re sure? Nothing, absolutely nothing, happened between the two of us?”

His chest moved up and down as he released a chuckle then an exasperated sigh. His hands moved to his pockets as he responded.

“Reign, I assure you, nothing happened between us last night.”

The way he adamantly spoke told me that he was telling the truth. Now, I felt like a fool because I wanted to know why nothing happened. We were obviously attracted to one another. I mean I was checking him out and he was doing the same. Chewing the inside of my jaw, I thought about last night and tried to remember the details. I really wanted to know why we hadn’t done anything. Since we hadn’t, how in the hell did I end up in his shirt?

“Reign, I can see the cogs of that brain of yours working. There are several reasons why we didn’t do anything. For one, I prefer conscious women when engaging in sexual activity. Call me old fashioned that way. Two, I don’t make it a habit to bring women to this place. It is where I lay my head when I have to work. I left the party last night with you and brought you here. On my way here, I called a doctor friend of mine and she came to check you out. She’s the one that changed your clothes from the ones you got sick all over. FYI, you got mine as well. She helped you clean up and put you in that shirt. Third, she could barely get you out of the clothes you were in. You fought Marlena the entire time. Call me crazy, but I don’t fight women to bed them. I prefer a willing participant.” He smiled then shook his head before adding, “In the spirit of full disclosure, I rifled through your bag to find your phone so I would have your number to call the famous woman who passed out on me last night.”

EK: What is your pen name?

Is it different from the name on your birth certificate?
How did you come up with your pen name?

Chelle Bliss: Chelle Bliss is a pen name. When I started writing, I was a teacher and needed to use a different name so students and parents wouldn’t find me. My parents always called me Chelle because my full name is Rachelle so it was an easy choice.

EK: Does your work fit into one genre? If not, tell us about it. If so, do the same.

Chelle Bliss: My books fit into the romance/erotica genre. I love to read romance and couldn’t imagine writing anything else.

EK: What is the title of your most recent or upcoming release?

Chelle Bliss: Honor Me is my next release. It’s part of the Men of Inked series.

EK: What inspired this work?

Chelle Bliss: My readers. They’ve been asking for more books in the series. I never had plans to write another book in the series, but after many messages and comment, I caved.

EK: What is your favorite thing about writing?

Chelle Bliss: The creativity and freedom that it gives me to create a new world. When I get messages from readers telling me how a book has made them feel it makes me the happiest. I think that’s the best thing about writing – making people happy.

EK: What is your favorite snack while taking a much needed author break?

Chelle Bliss: Gummy Bears are a favorite snack.

EK: What is one of the craziest things you’ve done in your life?

Chelle Bliss: I plead the 5th. The statute of limitations haven’t expired. 😉

Chelle Bliss: First my pets, 2 cats and a hamster, and then my computer.

EK: What is your “go to” movie, book, or show?

Chelle Bliss: My ‘go to’ movie is PS I Love You. It gets me EVERY TIME. (<- I sooo love this movie!)

EK: Who is one of your favorite authors? Why?

Chelle Bliss: I have so many favorites – Kristen Ashley, Kitty Thomas, Cj Roberts, Cherise Sinclair, and Alice Clayton are always my go to authors when I want to get lost in a fictional world.

EK: Bonus => Have you ever read a book that had you questioning why you were having such a reaction to fictional characters? What book was it?

Chelle Bliss: I’ve had this feeling so many times I don’t even know where to start. Binding Arbitration by Elizabeth Marx had me crying like a baby for hours. That book did me in. It’s amazing!

Suza Kates … Suza FREAKING Kates! What can I say about her? She is one of the first bigger named authors that took a moment to respond to an email for this little known individual. It doesn’t matter how many times I contact her for swag (something I’ll be soon bugging her for more of) or just to say “hello” she responds. The woman is one of the first authors to gift me one of her books. The avid reader that I am nearly combusted when I held one of the books to her Savannah Coven series. When I was coming up with my list of authors that I wanted to interview and share my admiration of, her name was at the top of my list. To say the least, I so heart her. Without any further embellishments, I share my interview with a woman that is one of my favorite authors.

EK: What is your pen name?

Is it different from the name on your birth certificate? How did you come up with your pen name?

Suza Kates: I wrote my first book while I was in Germany, and one night I was talking to my cats, calling them sweet cats or süß (pronounced soos) katzen. I started playing with the sounds, and there you go!

EK: Does your work fit into one genre? If not, tell us about it. If so, do the same.

Suza Kates: I primarily write paranormal romance and romantic suspense. Whether my characters have magic or powers or are just plain human, I always enjoy a bit of danger in the story.

EK: What is the title of your most recent or upcoming release?

Suza Kates: My next release is titled “Chosen Blood” and is the second book in The Sisters’ Grimoire Trilogy.

EK: What inspired this work?

Suza Kates: I enjoy writing about magic and strong female relationships, and I’ve always wanted to use a setting like that of the movie “Practical Magic”. However, the setting and use of sisters is about all that’s the same. I leaned toward a faerie theme and am loving the fantasy aspect!

EK: What is your favorite thing about writing?

Suza Kates: Planning the next book. I’ve learned to only write the stories I’m most excited about, and that makes the plotting process a lot more fun! Release days are pretty awesome too. : )

EK: What is your favorite snack while taking a much needed author break?

Suza Kates: Pizza bites

EK: What is one of the craziest things you’ve done in your life?

Suza Kates: I once climbed outside a balcony on the 18th floor of a building to rescue my cat.

Suza Kates: If cats are included in family, then I’ll grab my laptop and computer with current works in progress, my jewelry box, and an antique table.

EK: What is your “go to” movie, book, or show?

Suza Kates: Lord of the Rings Trilogy

EK: Who is one of your favorite authors? Why?

Suza Kates: Nora Roberts. She just has a way of making you want to visit the places and hang out with the characters.

EK: Bonus => Have you ever read a book that had you questioning why you were having such a reaction to fictional characters? What book was it?

Suza Kates: Little Women. I was pretty young when I read it and was so sad when I finished it that I just turned to the beginning and started over. It’s still one of my favorite books and probably influenced my love of female bonds and friendships in fiction.

I graduated from Long Island University CW Post, and Briarcliffe College, in 2006, and proudly hold a Dual Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts, with a concentration in Graphic Design and Photography. I started out as an avid reader and blogger in book land, and while blogging, I realized cover design is where I should have been all along.

Melanie Harlow: Yes. Melanie is SUPER close to my actual first name, and I go by Mel in both worlds. Harlow is a nod to 30s screen star Jean Harlow.

EK: What inspired this work?

Melanie Harlow: I really love dialogue. I really love sentence level stuff—finding the right words to convey a thought or feeling or mood. And I love getting into a character’s head and voicing things they’d never say out loud.

EK: Now for the fun stuff …

EK: What is your favorite snack while taking a much needed author break?

Melanie Harlow: COFFEE. I’m not a snacker but I love me some java.

EK: What is one of the craziest things you’ve done in your life?

Melanie Harlow: Oh my stars. I’ve done some goofy things. When I was a teenager (like 17-18) my friends and I used to go over to Canada with fake ID’s because you only had to be 19 to drink there.And once my friend and I went home with two Canadian strippers. Don’t ask.(<- I so want to ask a follow up question.)

EK: The house is on fire, what are you grabbing if your family is safe and sound?

Melanie Harlow: My laptop. My grandmother’s cookbook. My childhood diaries.

EK: What is your “go to” movie, book, or show?

Melanie Harlow: The English Patient (movie), Fortune’s Rocks (book), Mad Men (tv show)

EK: Who is one of your favorite authors? Why?

Melanie Harlow: Liane Moriarty. Her observations about suburban life, marriage, motherhood, and friendship are spot on. Her characters are fantastic, and her ability to weave multiple POVs into one cohesive storyline is amazing.

EK: Bonus => Have you ever read a book that had you questioning why you were having such a reaction to fictional characters? What book was it?

Melanie Harlow: I just read Me Before You and it wrecked me. Will Traynor wrecked me!
